I think that the abundance of low cost extra devices has made it less important to keep important data on the same disk as the operative system and also the possibility to have several backups of important data.
I have to admit that the new extra drives has also given appetite for space demanding data as movies and such that make it difficult to keep backups because of the size. Then again there are often copies of good films floating around on devices held be friends in case of one fails. Problem is that it takes a lot of time to copy a lot of films. Then again it also takes a lot of time to watch the films. I have acquired a hobby of listening to books on the PC and it is brilliant to be able to listen to books in the dark. The operating system is a lot less important now I think than what it used to be. All these new small devices with special application are amazing.
