Apple has an explicit policy of not allowing apps that require a
non-standard VM (ie. not their own issue).

My understanding is that this policy prevents J from ever being
implemented for the iPhone..

Personally, I would like to see some movement on the Android front
where there is no such policy, but nothing yet...
