Dieter,

'ts' is a commonly used verb and is short for 'time and space'. ts relies on a
couple of J's foreign conjunctions:

(6!:2) Execute. Seconds to execute sentence y.
(7!:2) Execute. Space required to execute sentence y.

You can find more information about the foreign conjunctions at
http://www.jsoftware.com/help/dictionary/xmain.htm.

You can also find error message descriptions at

Subject: Re: [Jchat] Does anyone out there have a megapower PC to answer my
'out of memory' question

Dear Kenneth

Hurray, good for you, good for me, good for all, there is the answer!

For slowly converging series, there is no substitute for  do. loops, not now,
not in the foreseeable future

finally got your timing program to work, got all the little symbols in the
right places, not sure yet what it does. For i.1e9   i got a new error: limit
error, not an 'oom' out of memory error, that with a 4 GB RAM mac book pro
running 32 bit J.

with an hp ipaq hx pocket pc I got an 'oom' error at ts 'i.1e7'

bit odd

also my mac book pro, previous edition , for ts  'i.1e8' gives me faster values
than yours ?
.512845   5.36872e8

thanks

thanks
