Thanks Jack. I actually haven't seen that exact page but you get my drift.

Right now JDB handles this through sockets as described here:
http://www.jsoftware.com/jwiki/JDB/ClientServer

The current implementation works but I want JDB to have more option to be able 
to scale.

it sounds like you are looking for "remoting" with LGPL software and you
specifically don't want to do it with AGPL software.
