It looks like the Aakash tablet runs Android 2.2, which has a reasonable browser. So, all you would need is a server with J running, and a way for the students to get that URL and log in.
It would be interesting for a business to sell J through browser access. Perhaps the business could provide limited-functionality access for free, and one or more levels of increased functionality for a monthly or yearly subscription. One could publish an "app" that sells in the iPhone and Android stores, but the app would mostly just authorize the user, launch the browser, and log them into the J server. I know I would use something like that on my smart phone.
