[ oops - I didn't read the mail's title first! Still, If I understand
correctly, Ubuntu 7.10 is relatively close to Debian Etch, which was
released on April 2007. Still, I cannot assure you there were no
binary-incompatible changes between Etch and Ubuntu 7.10 - Leonel,
do your PPA archives cover 7.10? If so, that's the best way out. ]

Thing is, I guess you are running Debian Etch, right? Debian has the
policy of not performing updates other than localized fixes for
security or reliability fixes during the lifetime of a stable release.

I am the Debian maintainer for Cherokee, so I can prepare and upload a
backport of Cherokee 0.11.6 to backports, if you want. Please take a
look at the following URLs first:

    http://www.backports.org/dokuwiki/doku.php
    http://www.backports.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=instructions

And tell me if you want the backport. I expect it to be buildable and
working in Etch with no modifications.

Greetings,
