Hi there,

I had an Apache/Lighttpd/Nginx-loving sysadmin/developer friend
working for a mid-sized startup in the US take a look to Cherokee on
his MacBook Pro using the package I had just built and he observed it
was tricky to make Cherokee start if you don't have the php-cgi
available in your system.

I quickly managed to tell him how to remove the rule and at least in
my computer I was able to start Cherokee from the cherokee-admin GUI
without much trouble but after playing a bit with the web-based
interface and liking it he wasn't willing to give it that much time
once he had tried a couple of times to remove the PHP rule and have
Cherokee start.

He's the kind of guy who could make wonders by word of mouth if we
managed to impress him with a Cherokee installing which no tweaking
running nicely out of the box.

I was thinking this: would it be a smart strategy to test for the
availability of the php-cgi binary at the cherokee-admin startup in
order to add the rule dinamically if it's to be found?

Maybe having a new user be able to start Cherokee with no effort is
better than having him fight with the UI to remove the PHP rule.

I admit I'm starting to use Cherokee again since months.. so surely
I've missed tons of debates..so forgive my general ignorance on
current issues this time :/

Antonio
