Subject: Re: [Cherokee] When I came here we were all friends
Hi pub crawler! ,
Here at nbee.es we've been developing an http benchmarking
framework that automatically downloads nginx, lighttpd, apache,
cherokee, and php sources.
Then it builds every server from sources and exports an XML-RPC API
for remote loading/unloading/changing/tuning configuration files,
getting memory usage.
The idea is to build benchmarks that you don't have to trust on
because everyone can replicate in easy steps, and everybody can
contribute to make them as real as possible.
It's almost done, and we will free it under gpl/bsd at the start of
this week :)
So.. count on me for the testing group!

anyone tries and see if indeed the numbers are fact or fiction and
determine where Cherokee is indeed the fastest and where we might
look
at getting even more performance out of Cherokee. Claiming to be the
fastest web server leaves Cherokee open to these sorts of flame wars
and will result in the increase of people bring different numbers our
way disputing this claim.
We can call someone lame or demean them all we want -- but this
generally makes the community look disorganized and certain people
seem sharp tongued. We aren't going to gain more converts and bring
more energy to Cherokee by insulting anyone. We all have our own
individual ways we use Cherokee. Someone might have a good enough
reason to test on localhost. Numbers are numbers...
Anyone want to form a testing group to put Cherokee and other web
servers through the paces when someone submits a new performance
claim?

I just wanted to say that even I, as a cherokee end-user with an
excellent admin (Stefan de Konink) am getting anoyed by all the
hassle.
Let me just say this:
I am an absolut fan of cherokee because:
- performance meets my needs
- project members are extremely respectfull and polite, helpful
- I personaly hate monopolies, having no choice makes communities
lazy
and ignorant to their users. Cherokee keeps Apache developers
sharp and
vice versa.
- It is stable enough for me
Cherokee-project, keep up the excellent work! And as far as I am
concerned, simply ignore the flames and organize internal group hugs
when needed ;-)

Indeed. Drama is a big waste of time.
*blushes* That said, I don't abide rude people. I just had a go
in the
thread of doom.
*hugs Stefan* Sorry!

Can we please be friends again?
...because I like group hugs and parties. Not flamewars on
mailinglist.
Anyone that want to have a kiss on the cheek :*
I like Cherokee, I like Alvaro, I like everybody here :) binb4sh
you too!
If you don't like someone there is also a reply -not to list-
button. But
keep in mind if many of us never responded on this list, or the
bugtracker
we would still have a lot of bugs and don't spot the
competition.
We would
be friends and friends usually work with eachother and don't
see what
happens around them.
