It's certainly a very interesting idea. Would you be willing to maintain it like an external plug-in? In my understanding that would better than adding it to trunk right away (libgda dependencies might be some sort of an issue for some environments). We could create a new project in the repository so it lived besides the main source tree. Besides, the process would force us to come up with a cleaner way to compile external modules.
