I would suggest to use the packages from your distro or add an extra source to your /etc/apt/sources.list so you have a more recent version of cherokee. It makes sure that all dependencies are met, the init script is setup correctly and all other stuff is correct and tied down to your operating system. Installing from source may come in handy if you are not able to install the latest version from the repositories and you want the latest version or you're not happy with the default installation option from the package from your repo. Default everything is fine, so I would suggest using this: http://www.cherokee-project.com/doc/basics_installation_unix.html#APT > > > > 2011/1/19 James Pearson <[email protected]> > > > On Tue, Jan 18, 2011 at 1:17 PM, Rafael Valenzuela <[email protected]>wrote: > > > >> Hello everyone > >> > >> I'm a newbie in server cherokee and I've a question I've executed these > >> instructions > >> > >> ./configure --localstatedir=/var \ > >> --prefix=/usr \ > >> --sysconfdir=/etc \ > >> --with-wwwroot=/var/www > >> > >> make > >> make install > >> > >> but the attempt to run this cp contrib/cherokee /etc/init.d/ I get error > >> "can not run 'start' on <<contrib/cherokee>>: exixte No such file or > >> directory" any solution??? > >> > > > > Which distro are you using?
