Besides, the point isn't that you drove a little "too fast" according to
somebody else's opinion of "too fast"...
It's the fact that we're losing our privacy on a daily basis. At the
rate we're going, our lives will be electronically monitored and
somewhat controlled. It's already technically possible, and in some
cases being used. The rental car was one example, parollees with their
electronics, credit card purchases, etc.
I predict that one day all new cars, guns, etc will one day have a GPS
chip.... It goes on and on.
Even the military is losing out these days. There was a news story on
the radio just this morning that described how simple cell phone
technology can detect a Stealth bomber flying over head. Put enough of
them together and track its course. so much for that billion dollars of
privacy. :-)
We even have proven technology that will tell you when you've used up
9/10 of a gallon of milk and need to order more. Jeeez.
Just look at the trends over the past few years, and then look forward
10-20 years..... 30, 40...
I'm less concerned about me and my next 30-40 years than I am for my 18
month old son's future.
It's ironic how the quality of life (at least in the US) continues to
improve, but that there is a price to pay.
Even our carburated/points cars aren't safe, consider the radar
controlled license plate picture taker at the end of that quiet straight
road. Yikes! that's gonna hurt. :-)
