Hi everyone,

First of all, I'm back from a 6 1/2 week patrol in the Florida Straights.  Interdicted about 300 migrants from Cuba and Haiti.  Glad to be home!

As for the emblem question.  My 66 El Camino had the "El Camino" emblem on the front grille and it turns out these are very rare emblems for whatever reason and nobody makes a repop.  So I think most people give up trying to find one and end up putting the "Chevelle" emblem in its place to fill the holes in the grille.

Back when I started work on my 66 I wasn't aware of this until I tried to replace mine after the chrome shop screwed it up.  Fortunately a good friend of mine found one and grabbed it for me.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

This may be old news to all of you but I'm confused.

Went to a car show today.  There were 3 Elky's there.  One was
terrific (yeah, I took pictchuhs)and the other two were 'works in
progress'.  Anyhow, one of the older ones had El Camino on the rear
and Chevelle on the front.  I figured he stuck a Chevelle front end
on there and just hadn't gotten around to removing the chrome.  Then
we go around the corner and there's another one parked with the same
deal - El Camino on the rear quarterpanel and Chevelle on the front
fender.

Did I miss something?  Were El Camino's ever Chevelles?  I mean, I
know they are the same basically, but did they ever SAY Chevelle on
the front and El Camino on the rear?

Mary, at the feet of the masters asking really dumb questions.

Anyone got an answer for this one...it's about the older cars, he doesn't mention a year, but it seems like I may have seen one or two of these before.

Kelly & Jana Hanna
Still two Elkys
6 weeks til East Texas
They got "Red Rocks" there
