Are there baffles in the valve covers themselves? I had an unbaffled set on my old 350 engine and it made for very messy (oily) valve covers. Much less coming out of the baffled set I have now. Another thing you can try is a baffled breather grommet - it's got a small slit on the bottom instead of being completely open.
