I drove the '66 with the 283 from Tucson to LA, 500 miles. I blew the power steering hose (earls braided stainless, replaced with crim on braided teflon) I guess it didnt like 4000 rpm, a brand new pump and 7 hrs of driving. got 18 miles per gallon with the 3.73s. it sounded so good at 4 grand and 80 mph across the desert. it ran like a top.
