When I wrote "couple thousand miles" I didn't mean 2000 miles literally. My point was; The regular "tune up" that needed to be done before HEI came along is obsolete. I can remember thinking, "This electronic ignition stuff won't last. It's just something else to go wrong." Boy, was I proven wrong! Even a mediocre HEI system is far superior to any points type ignition system.
