I just like to be able to look up parts and see if they're available for certain applications. I also have the 72 GM parts book for the same thing. It's nice to be able to go into the dealers parts guy and just give hime a part number. They seem to appreceiate it. Plus I can go to gmpartsdirect.com and check availability of a lot of stuff before I even go to the dealer. The only bad thing is that many part #'s have now been superceded by new part numbers.
