Don't know if anyone's mentioned Proform yet, but I've got a Proform main body (#67100C) to replace a 750 DP #4779.  I traded a 750 vac. sec. #3310 that was kind of worn.  I traded the vac. sec. carb for the double pumper, even though I knew the DP had problems, at least that's what the guy said when I traded him (found float settings and pump clearance were off).  The Proform main body converts a 650-750 DP into a 850-900 cfm DP carb by using the existing throttle body you have.  It has adjustable air bleeds (bonus for those with cams with lots of duration and idle problems), no choke and smooth venturis like the Demon and Holley HP series carbs.

What I like about Edelbrock:
I bought my car on a Tuesday 3 years ago and the next day I took the Holley #3310 off and installed a new Edelbrock 750, manual choke #1407.  I used it for 2 1/2 years and it never failed me once.  I upgraded to electric choke within a month of buying it :*) Gotta love the fast idle setting on those Edelbrocks used w/electric choke!  Big blocks w/big cams, no heat crossover on the intake, etc. tend to start & act cold blooded when the eng. is cold.  Man, gotta love electric choke!!!  Most of my friends run manual choke and they have to sit in their car for minutes to warm up their beasts when cold.

Anyway, wanting more horses from my 408 BB, I finally got the Proform and installed it as per directions and put it on.  WOW, what a difference!!!  That Proform main body made a night and day difference!!  It idled puurfectly!  Only bad thing...NO gas mileage :*(   The high gas prices of last year drove me to reinstall the Edelbrock.

FYI, if you buy an Edelbrock 750 manual choke carb, it is jetted richer than the same Edelbrock carb that came originally with elec. choke...just thought I'd add that for those guys looking for more gas mileage.

I used to be a Holley hater, but now...
I currently run a ZZ502 that came with a Holley 850 vac. sec. carb.  It's the icing on the cake!!!  However, I managed to get my hands on a brand new AED 850 DP and changed my intake over to a Holley Strip Dominator...in an effort to kill some of the low end torque - believe it or not!  The ZZ502's have an UNGODLY amount of torque that my L-60 14's just can't contain.  I thought I was gonna kill some of the bottom end (which I did only slightly) but I really didn't do much to it.  My mid-range and top-end went from Wow!!! - to Freakin A!, SLOW DOWN!!!

I just had my RPM Air Gap powder coated and I'll be installing it tommorow.  The 850 vac. sec. carb will go back on.  I will keep you all posted if you're interested.
