>If you've been to my web page before you've probably seen the car I had when >I was 17... a 1970 Torino GT with a 429 built by yours truly, a C6 auto w/ a >3500 rpm stall converter, and a 9" with 3.90's and a Detroit Locker. Yeah, >I know it was a Ford, but so what, it could smoke the L60/15's all day long! My second car in 1974 was a 1966 Mercury Park Lane police special with the same motor. The car ran like a scalded dog and would burn rubber for most of a long block (skinny stock tires....L78's I think). My dad had bought it (1967 off the showroom floor, it had never been delivered to the fuzz) and had given it to me after he'd had it for years driving 5 miles under the limit. He got 12 miles to the gallon....I got 7 or 8 if I was lucky....what a car! I always thought those Torino's and the Ranchero's were great looking cars. I'd have one now for sure if I could afford it. The 429 Torino was brought out to legalize the car for NASCAR. Kelly C.
