I'd like to duplicate the factory installation as much as possible, so I'd like to run a wire from the "tach" terminal of my HEI to the harness connection on the firewall.  My problem is, I'm not sure which terminal in the harness connection it should be.  On a non-HEI car, where did the tach signal wire come from?  Was it from the coil (+) terminal?  If so, then I can tell by my wiring diagram which terminal it should be.

Thanks again,
Galen

I'm not sure if the tach wire itself was part of the harness or not. Yes, the tach hooks to your Tach terminal on the HEI. Here's a photo of the connections on a 69 tach cluster. Should be the same idea, but probably different color wires. http://www.noneckschevelle.com/images/tachnew3.jpg

I'm doing a conversion.  The dash harness is from an SS tach guage car, and my engine harness is the original one from my non-SS car.  However, the wiring diagram only shows one engine harness, they don't show anything different for SS/non-SS.  I'll be hooking the tach to my HEI distributor, presumably to the "tach" terminal, if this is the correct thing to do.  Any advice?

Thanks,
Galen
