Last week someone was asking about the tach hookup to the coil in a points ignition. I can't remember if it was answered or not, so I'll pass along that my '72 Chevy truck service manual shows the tach lead being connected to the + terminal and the - lead running to the distributor. I would be very surprised if Chevy didn't use the same setup for all points ignitions (transistorized/unitized setups excluded).
