You can do a couple things. If you are lucky enough to find a good parts guy
at your local Chevy dealer, you could go in there and ask him to look up a
part and see if it is still available. And just order it. Or sometimes
stuff will be recently discontinued and he can do a search to see if ANY GM
dealer has it. (I've seen a few Chevy parts counter guys who will just tell
you a part for our old cars is not available because they are too lazy to
get the book out from under the counter and look up the numbers like they
had to do in the old days. The part #'s for most of the stuff for our cars
is not in the computer database. Many times the original part #'s will have
to be looked up in the book and then searched in the computer for the NEW
part number that supercedes the old one.Or you can get do what I finally did
and paid $50 off ebay for a "GM Parts and Accessories Catalog" . This is
the book that the parts guys use to look up your part #'s. The part guy was
much happier when I got my book and I could just go in and ask for a list of
part #'s and he could just look them up and tell me if they were available
or not. I would often just getmy numbers and go to gmpartsdirect.com and
search online. It tells you if a part is available or not. Then either order
it there or go to your parts dealer and order it. I found the prices to be
about the same whether from the website or the dealer once you factor in
shipping, plus the dealer usually had them to me in a day or two. Hope this
helps! (You'd be surprised at what is still available for our cars from GM.
Then again, you's be surprised what is NOT too!)
