mike A tall spindle disc brake swap will drop your front end just over an inch. Its a lot of work, but from the shape of your chevelle- I can tell work never bothered you.
Or, find Fred Aldrichs web site - he is a retired GM suspension engineer. Email him the details of what you have and what you want. He'll come back with an off the shelf spring recommendation. I wanted to drop the rear of my elky to match the 1" drop in front, and his recommendation was right on. He also has a 69 el camino. FYI - freds site is listed at http://links.chevelles.net/links in the WorkShop area and then under the suspension link. ---------- Michael Pell <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> writes: From: Michael Pell <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: ChevelleList <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: [Chevelle-List] Lowering the front end on my '69 Date: Tue, 23 Apr 2002 19:38:50 -0500 My '69 sits too high in the front. I have new set of TRW OEM replacement BBC springs, and yes a BBC engine. I've really not lightened the front end much, but I have a FG hood, aluminum intake and aluminum radiator. Everything else is pretty much stock. Any suggestions on how I could lower this 1"-2" ? Properly? I cut a coil off my existing springs, and it dropped too far to be driveable (tires hit inner fenders, header nearly on the ground, etc). I do have a new set of SBC springs, but I wonder if they would be appropriate. I guess it's only labor to install them and see..... Although I hate to do it. It's all I can do to compress a spring with 2 hands, set it in place, push up the lower aframe with one foot, and put the ball joint nut on with my other foot.... And not pop a vein in the process. :-) Thanks for any suggestions... -- Check out my webpage at http://www.ProStreetCar.com and my For Sale page at http://www.ProStreetCar.com/classifieds.html Tremec Distributor at http://www.tremectransmissions.com/ Team Chevelle membership #178 (Gold) ----------------------------------------------------- To Unsubscribe please visit www.chevelles.net/list.html To start a new topic, send mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] rick schaefer 72 El camino http://members.home.net/jimmy4/rick1972elky.html ACES #00140 Team Chevelle #00038 ----------------------------------------------------- To Unsubscribe please visit www.chevelles.net/list.html To start a new topic, send mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
