This list is a good place to start.  experience ranges from novice to 
professional mechanics.  I usually use meguir's(sp) wax/cleaning products.  
The first thing I would look at as far as the gas gauge is to make sure the 
wires are connected to the guage,second I would make sure the sender is 
grounded at the rear of the car..I have a cell in my car so I can't be much 
help on location but I believe it runs from the top of the tank to the rear 
frame crossmember.
