Absolutely sounds like a heater core. I'd disconnect the hoses on the engine side so as not to do any damage til you get it fixed. Check the passenger side floor/carpet for anti freeze and get it dried out. The core is available from any parts store for reasonable ($30.00??) money. You need to work from both sides of the firewall to do the swap- awkward but not too difficult. You may need to loosen/drop the passenger side inner fender well to get at one of the bolts holding the heater core in place.
Sealing the heater box - replacing the gaskets- sealers in the plastic box hanging inside the passenger compartment. Or sealing the outer heater "suitcase" to the firewall. I did a core swap many years ago and don't think that you need to drop the heater box. But also an A/C and non A/C car may be different. There is a link to an A-body heater core swap at http://links.chevelles.net/links check in the workshop area. rick schaefer 72 El Camino http://members.home.net/jimmy4/rick1972elky.html TPI 350-700r4 http://chevelles.com/showroom/ricks%20motor%20-L Team Chevelle # 0038 ACES #0140 On Wed, 01 May 2002 08:43:04 -0500 Jeff Fischer <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> writes: > Last few times I drove the Chevelle, I have been noticing the odor of > > anti-freeze and when I throw on the heater, the windshield gets > fogged. > This is a faulty heater core correct?
