GM was experimenting with turbocharging on the straight six in the early 1970's and was making good power with it. With today's technology a turbo and intercooler can make a lot of HP. Pontiac had an overhead cam straight six with a 4 BB carb on it. It made a good handling car because of the reduced weight over the front wheels.
