i just recently removed that trim piece you are talking about. when you look along the track that the window slides on, there is more room for it to lower. there are two window stops, one near the front and one near the back of the door. you should be able to loosen the bolts and move the window stop lower almost two inches. this should give you enough room to reach the three trim screws behind the window.
