Could be Larry, never paid much attention.  "Bridgestone" just sounded British.  Confused them with Silverstone in England I think- the race and not the Silverstone tyres - those are made in Malaysia.

I thought Bridgestone was always a Japanese company? The company actually in Japanese meant stone bridge but could not be interpreted into English correctly hence Bridgestone. I maybe wrong about this but I do remember years ago reading an article that explained this.
