I must admit, 454's are a blast to drive. My 66 has one, with a 4spd. Wouldnt make for a very good daily driver right? Har Har Har, it is my daily driver. Yes, it gets horrible gas mileage. But how horrible depends on if you have a lead foot. Average, it gets about 7 MPG in the city. On the freeway I wouldnt know, because I never wasted a full tank of gas on the freeway. Darn motor decided to start giving me a knock, and I still dont know what it is, so shes parked for the time being. I would suggest going with a pretty built SB...Lots of power, and halfway decent gas mileage. My dad warned me about the gas mileage....I told him Ill learn the hard way. Luckily, ever weekend I work for a family friend, and do chores around here, so it always puts gas in the tank.
