well, actually, at the car show i attened, a guy i
met, whom i became friends with, told me that he had the frame dipped and then
the frame was powdercoated. what i liked about powdercoating, is that it
looks really good, and my 2 birds (cockatoo and lovebird) cages are
powdercoated, and it NEVER fails me. however, i have heard
that acid dipping is expensive, isnt it?

was told of a web site that shows a guy that found a company that acid dipped
the frame and then galvanized it. I would think this would get the rust inside
the frame parts where you can't get to sandblast. I wouldn't think of
galvanaizing unless I could get all of the rust off first and an acid dip
sounds like the way to do it.

course you could always acid dip and then powder coat too I would
think?
Anyone else ever done that or seen anyone? I am considering this myself
for my 69.

From what I’ve heard and read, powder coating is
a better process than painting, unless you are going for originality. I
sandblasted and painted the frame of my ‘69 and it turned out great. But who
knows how long the finish will last on the street. I will tell you that
sandblasting, if you do it yourself, is very time consuming and labor
intensive. I did mine in my driveway and boy were my neighbors happy. If I
had to do it again, I would find someone who did it for a living and have it
powder coated, I just love how clean and neat a good powder coat job
looks.
