Is it possible for the timing to be thrown off if the serpentine belt slips? R U talking of a chevelle? The belts at the front of a velle are fan belts. Serpentine belts came along much later. The fan belts have nothing to do with timing. The TIMING CHAIN can cause timing to slip. The timing chain is mounted behind the water pump, under a tin cover. The cover is held in place by 10 or a dozen small bolts. It can be a pain to get at the first time. The chains can stretch and the gears that the chains ride on can wear. Either can cause timing to slip/jump. But before I jumped on changing a timing chain, I'd be very sure that is the problem. A chain should last many troublefree miles. Last question...My transmission is leaking A LOT of transmission fluid. Could this be just because of a bad gasket or what else could it be from. Thanks for the help. You will be surprised how fast a stout 454 will tear stuff Very well could be a gasket or seal. You need to clean off the old fluid, run it for a day and try to observe exactly where the fluid is leaking from. If its the pan gasket, you can drain fluid, change filter & have it bolted back together in 2 hours. _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx ----------------------------------------------------- To Unsubscribe please visit www.chevelles.net/list.html To start a new topic, send mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] rick schaefer 72 El camino http://members.home.net/jimmy4/rick1972elky.html ACES #00140 Team Chevelle #00038 ----------------------------------------------------- To Unsubscribe please visit www.chevelles.net/list.html To start a new topic, send mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
