1) Never heard that. I always heard that you should drain the oil and then
replace with 4 qts oil and 1 qt transmission fluid (assuming you have a 5 qt
pan). Run it for a while & drain & refill w/ oil like Krister said.

2) you can also dribble trans fluid right into the carburetor. It will make
lots of smoke, but it will clean things up in the fuel system.

3) I have never actually tried either of the above methods myself, so get
another opinion first.

Sticking/Clicking/noisy lifters - aside from replacing the hydraulic
lifters - a couple of remedies I have heard in the past were:

1. drain the oil, replace with trans fluid ( because of the detergents in
it) run car a  few miles and drain  - replacing with regular engine oil.

2. adding a quart of diesel fuel to the engine  - run a few minutes - and
drain

3. add the ever popular engine flush additive before doing an oil change

Any body try any of these or have any other ideas?
