You are right about that, it had to be a gorilla to twist the bulb into the socket.

Somebody must have gotten medieval on that bulb because the side posts on
the double-contact bulbs (your typical 1157) are at different heights. The
side posts on the single contact bulb are at the same height, all the way
down near the bottom of the base. Somebody might want to change the socket
that was done to.

removing a single contact lamp from a double contact  socket.
