To answer your first question, the wiring diagram will be a big help if you keep the
car for any length of time. You can get the wiring harness in a Haynes Chevelle
Manual, available at most larger parts stores. Or the wiring diagram is in the GM
chassis service manual for your year. Or- you can buy the wiring diagram seperately.

Depending how original you want to go, there are correct replacement sockets available
at parts stores. Just be sure to get the correct socket for the lamp used in that
position. IE 1-filament or 2 filament.

ALSO - NEWSFLASH - I just remembered that someone cured a similar problem by removing
a single contact lamp from a double contact socket.

Finally, before you change anything, try wiggling the turn signal stalk. See if you
can make the light go out.

No not yet. Just found it last night after a cruise in. I also found that the prior
owner replaced the bulb sockets with these universal metal type. He doesn't even have
any bulbs in the back-up light. I'm sure I'll be finding other problems. I'd like to
replace the metal sockets with the original type plastic ones. Do you know if all GM
bulb sockets are the same? Thanks

Have you checked the brake switch on the pedal?

I need to check the rear wiring on my 69SS. Found that my driver's side rear
brake light stay on all the time. Would the wiring diagram book be worth purchasing
in order to locate the problem and making sure the wires are correct? Thanks
