Paul,
No need to be over sensitive. Herb is one of the nicest guys on
this list and a major contributor. I happen to agree with him that the
younger guys here expect you to answer their every little question and
they don't bother to go do research. Just do the research guys and come
back and tell us what you find. If you still have questions, then ask.
You may indeed teach a lot of us something.
I don't mind answering the tougher ones myself, and try to help out with
the obvious ones, although I don't know half of what guys like Herb do.
But I have been doing my homework and researching my buns off looking at
web sites, searching through tech sites, buying books, and going to
shows and talking & e-mailing vendors.
It's typical and I am sure we did the same thing. It does get annoying
and I doubt they retain much if they are just told the answer. I think
there are a lot of guys out there that don't post much and just sit back
and read for whatever reason they have. Something tells me, when that
one little subject comes up that they know more about than anyone else,
they will step up and contribute.
Everyone has something to contribute. Even these young guys are
occasionaly going to teach the veterans a thing or two. If nothing more
than just remind them that there is a whole new generation that knows
nothing about what these cars and this era was like and want to learn.
And that's a good thing.
