If I’m not mistaken, when the 2 tone was ordered, it came with the same trim as a vinyl top.

Herb,

I agree that two-tone paint is unique and the Capri Cream (T) over Sierra Fawn (S) was an option and would have come with black, fawn or gold interior colors.  The chrome trim would be odd since it was used on a vinyl top car.  See if you can get a peek at the trim tag on the cowl and see if the paint code is S-T.  If it had a vinyl top originally, it would have been black or beige and I'd be interested to see what the top trim code shows, "T" for Capri Cream paint or something else for a vinyl top.

Hey Dale,

My friend's 67 Malibu has, from what I can tell, a couple unique features.  First, it's two tone paint.  The body looks like the Sierra Fawn, and the roof looks like Capri Cream IIRC.  It also has the chrome molding around the lower portion of the roof where it meets the deck, almost like it should've had a vinyl top.  As for the interior, I looked at it pretty close but now I can't remember if there were any SS emblems.

My friend's uncle is the original owner and more or less gave him the car.

The guy described it that way and I took his word for it. He had the buckets w/ console and A/T. I didn't even look for SS nameplates in the interior, so I can't verify that. he did say that it had an SS interior though. Maybe he just thought it was because of the buckets & console.

John,

What do you mean by SS interior?  Aside from the nameplate above the glovebox and SS on the standard steering wheel, the only difference was the black crinkle finish instead of wood grain on the dash strip.  Bucket seats (A51), console (D55) , gauges (U14), custom deluxe seat belts (A39), sport steering wheel (N34), etc were all available as regular production items on any Malibu Sport Coupe or Convertible.  The only difference in seats was you could get a cloth (bench) seat in the Malibu Sport Coupe and couldn't get cloth in the SS.  I'd have to see a built sheet, window sticker, or bill of sale to see what code was used to designate a SS interior.

Just curious about the dash strip.  I've never seen a 67 SS with factory air that had the black plastic strip with an A/C vent in the center?

There was a 67 Malibu at the MCC show (a friend of Herb's) that had a two-tone paint job and got the SS interior (by special order) from the factory.

According to GMs literature, there were seven two-tone combinations available in the 67 Chevelle lineup and two exceptions.  Two-tone was not available on Concours Custom Wagon or Convertibles.
