Josh,            You and I think alike here!  I am taking a small block car with an automatic, and converting it to a 396/402 with a 4 speed.   I have never owned a big block before. I know this as there is a manual hump in the floor pan and the linkage bracket is still on the frame. I also remeber the owner at that time verifing this info. I could ramble for hours I suppose so I will list questions im unsure of.   1. Was a 4 speed avalible on all HP 396 motorsor only certain hp? 2. Is there any other way to figure exackly what motor came in a SS with out the build sheet. 2. Did the bucket / console/tach option only come on SS models? 3.
