Chuck,

Then there is also the little known '70 LS6 w/aluminum heads.

Here's one that a lot of people forget about when they're talking rare Chevelles...  How about the '70 L89 (aluminum head, 375hp 396), of which there were only 18 built?  In all my years of foolin' with Chevelles, I've never seen one in person.  Seen plenty of Z-16s, More LS6 cars than were probably ever really built, and even a handful of '67 L78 cars (612 built).  Shoot, even the '69 Ss with the L89 option is pretty rare... 400 units built.  Yet another Chevelle oddity is the '66 fitted with the M22 Muncie four-speed... 12 built.  Seen a couple of those.

I'm still holding out for the '70 L89 Chevelle as one of the rarest ever built!

Kent,
I believe that all aluminum-headed '70 Chevelles were built with the L78 (396/375hp) as the basis for their construction.  I am not aware of any 454/LS6 variants of the L89 option.  I could be wrong, however, as I've never seen either one in person.

My '70 L78 (iron-head) convertible was a great car to have, but I'd love to find a '70 375-horse convert with recycled Budweiser cans bolted to the block!
