JD, Also look on the back of the block on the top of the bellhousing flange near the casting number for a casting date.  You should find a letter then a number then another number.  The letter A thru L represents the month Jan. thru Dec., the first letter represents the day of the month and the last number represents the year.  Example: A 8 9 = January 8th. 1969 casting date.
