The model series will show if it was V8 or 6 but not what size V8 or 6. Example for a base '64 Elky, 45380 was a 6-cyl and 45480 was V8 - the Custom El Camino got a 45580 for a 6-cyl and 45680 for a V-8. The trim tag model series should match that portion of the VIN.
