Dude,600bucks is will [freshin]that motor or be a good start on a
rebuild.Easy test 1-does it use oil?2-does it smoke or knock?3-blow by from
oil fill cap?no-no-no,then the engine prob. ok.,Lot of satifaction from
doing it your self and 1/2 the cost.Lifter noise?I did get an1968 engine
that had a 1966 cam installed.See under valve cover while running.Oil
flowing up push rods to lube and cool rocker arms I think would indicate
good oil pressure to lifters[it is hydralic?]by the by,I bought the chevy
roller rocker arms from chevy PN#12361323,All BB owners should try I could
feel more power [seat of pants] reved cleaner and less wear on canted
valves.Does require tall valve covers.One gut I know did use the "NEW" valve
covers but,had to grind down top of poly locks.
