I agree Herb. These cars spent the last 30+ years outside in the rain and
snow. A few more years in the garage on the tires ain't gonna kill them! In
addition what about the few nice days you get in the winter where you just
need to take it out?

In all honesty, if you want to store your car on jack stands so your tires
don't get flat spots, I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you have
modern radials, any flat spots from sitting will go away within the first
couple miles of driving after storage.

Besides, what if your house catches on fire, you won't have time to get
your
Chevelle off the jack stands and out of the garage! I say keep it on the
tires, you never know!

I came in late on the post! I was planning the same storage item
:Storing
on
Jacks" Were shouldn't the jack stands be? And were are the best
locations?
I
had planed on putting the stands at the frame rails at the "Door hinge
area
of the frame / Front" and at the frame just "Before the rear wheels".
This
sounds as if to be wrong! I was trying to get the suspension from being
loaded!

Thanks in advance!

Greg I was the one who mentioned the JACK stand problem. You Can use
jask
stands if thay support the car
under the A arms in the front and the rear axle tubes in the rear. The
problem is guys tend to support the car in the cowl area and the frame
just
behind the gast tank.
A body cars are FLEXABLE and when supported in this fasion they were
not
ment to be for long periods of time , the frame flex becomes
memorized.

In fact, I think one of the gents on this list mentioned it to me.
Perhaps the suspension sags or something. In any case, I got out the
old
SS wheels and intend to bolt them on for the winter. I would prefer
to
put it up on stands, though, but don't want to create any problems.
