I tried to get a rear from a 77 Malibu to fit in my 70 so I could roll it around while I did the body work, I couldn't get it to fit for the life of me. Yet a 7.5" rear from a G-Body bolted right up to it. From what I have seen, some 8.5" 10 bolts did make it into 69-72 cars.
If you want to get a junkyard 12 bolt and rebuild it to what you want, here is what it will end up costing. All of the parts are readily available and total cost for parts with all of the bearings, carrier, ring & pinion, will cost between $650-$700 without the axles. Add in new axles from Moser Engineering and total cost is around $900, then add $200 to build it so total cost ends up being around $1100 or so. $200 is the going rate to build a rear in my area.
Even competely rebuilt 12 bolts are readily available at swap meets for around $600-$800
