Bill, Aside from what you already know, the 01C is January, third week. The "9963" after ATL is a plant assembly sequence code. These codes are "supposed" to start with 100001, but as you can see that's not always the case. My 67 was also built in Atlanta and the number on it is 17939.
W2L are a couple of option codes: * W being group 1 (implied "1"), a tinted windshield (only) and * 2L being the 2nd group (2) and L being a 4-speed but no way of knowing which one (M20/M21/M22) The -169678 is unknown. If these codes mean anything to anyone, let me know as I have some numbers like this on my 67 as well. There is nothing on the trim tag (or often referred to as the cowl tag) that denotes the particular engine installed. The VIN will tell you the model and from that you can deduce the ~standard~ engine but that's all. You'd need the build sheet or the Protect-O-Plate to get any more info. To be honest, I think I'd trust a Protect-O-Plate these days over a build sheet since they are being reproduced and sold blank now.
