Gino,
you have a 40 year old wiring harness that has been hacked up, modified, and is causing you problems left and right. I highly recommend a new wiring harness and complete rewiring of the car.  The original wire was barely good enough at the time. Much better wire and insulation is available today, and if you start putting in accessories, higher output alternators and additional demands on the system you will need a good quality wiring system to handle it.

It doesn't sound like electrical systems is your strongest talent, and that's ok, everyone has things they are good at and things they aren't. But with very little wiring experience and electrical knowledge I'd go for a plug and play harness like M&H.

If you were more into doing some things yourself you can save a lot of money and still get quality wiring, you just have to put more work into it. Special Muscle Car wiring harnesses are looking pretty good to me from places like EZ wiring and Centech. They have a ton of options available such as circuits for power windows, power seats, and much more. But like I say, they will require some work with putting on connectors and such.

Just my opinion, but I wouldn't want to see my classic go up in flames due to bad wiring.

Subject: [Chevelle-List] More electrical problems!

Well, my electrical situation is getting worse. My brake lights are no longer working! They have been ok and all of a sudden they stopped working. What should I check first.

Also, through further inspection, I just realized that the ribbon cable that goes throught the interior and out through the back has been cut and bypassed. This is why my wiring is all screwed up. Is there any companies that will sell me this ribbon cable? I really need some help.

Thanks,

GIno
