Anyone running a Demon carb or Holley Street
Avenger? I'm looking into getting a new carb instead of rebuilding what I got
(read: selling what I got to recoup the money for a new relateively hassle-free
carb that I can buy and install in the same weekend rather than waiting for a
shop...).. Any thoughts?
I want ease of install/use... I hear the Demon
carbs work bitchin out of the box (and while I've heard the same about the
Edelbrock 1406 I've also heard quite the opposite!) and so far so good with the
Street Avenger.. Not too many reviews out there on either carb, though..
Hmph..
Anyway, any info is greatly appreciated
:)
Car its being used on (for the email that goes to
the Chevelle list.. hehe)
67 Plymouth Barracuda
360ci, 9:1 compression [cast], ported #302 heads
(closed combustion chamber.. A swirlport design.. Small valves.. I'm banking on
high port velocity..)
Edelbrock Performer intake
340 Exhaust Manifolds (a high flowing stock exhaust
manifold similar say to the early Z28 manifolds)
Electronic distributor conversion with some sort of
re-curve.. not sure yet as I have yet to recurve it..
Cam-shaft is a mystery so far.. Only numbers I
know-- 228 duration.. (@ 50? don't know.. But, it was a custom grind and I'd
know more info if the engine builder and I were on speaking terms.. But after I
got an engine minus freeze plugs, push rods, and a 30/30 crank that was still
gouged I decided I'd rather not talk with him.. The cam looks decent,
though..)..
A-904 trans (TCI valve body for nice firm shifts,
good quality internals)
3.23 open rear end..
The car is my daily driver and I do commute a
decent amount so I'd like to keep fuel economy in some consideration.. I was
going to run my Quadra-jet but I'm saving that for my Chevelle for originality..
Plus, rather than spend $250 to have JET re-do my worn out Q-Jet I'll go with a
brand new carb..
Or am I sick in the head? :)
Any help is greatly appreciated..
