I appreciate your response and maybe I should be more clear. I was trying to be as
brief as possible. I purchased this car while looking for a 55 or 56 nomad. It was
from California(Documented) and in such good shape, I couldn't resist it. It looks and
is better than it rolled off the assembly line. Unfortunately , I didn't take the time
to do a thourough inspection once I received it her in Georgia last May 2002. I drove
it last August in some traffic and it overflowed some coolant. No big deal at the time
as I just added Coolant mix. A few weeks ago I decided to back-flush and put in new
coolant mix while doing the same with another vehicle. The first time I drove it I
started smelling Coolant and found a leak at the drivers side head gasket. I also
found the temp sensor unplugged at the sensor. So I don't really know when it first
overheated to the point it damaged gasket. I understand Idiot lights usually go off
too late to prevent damage. Anyway, It is now very cold in m!
y unheated garage and I was just trying to do minimum quality repair to resolve untill
warmer weather would permit me to posibly replace heads with possibly better flowing
ones along with a 4 barrel upgrade. I'm not looking to hot rod it. I just want to make
it as efficient as possible.
