I've seen a mixup in 6-cyl and V8 cowl tags on 64 and
65 Chevelles, but never a 69. You don't say what engine it has, or if
you know it's original, but the last 6 numbers stamped on the engine should
match the VIN.
I've seen the two dashes on a 70 trim tag and it means
a "paint delete" and it can be painted by a specialty shop or dealer in any
combination you want. I can't think of the TV series, but it featured a
guy from Canada I believe that is a high-dollar restorer (Legendary Motor Cars)
that has a 70 LS6for sale. Some guy wanted it painted his old school
colors - a baby blue, white stripes and black vinyl top - and the trim tag

putting together another site of Chevelle data and am collecting photos of trim
tags and POPs. You wouldn't by chance be able to get a picture of the tag
with the 2 dashes?
