Yesterday I said you didn't need the cable or
switch. I got to thinking about that at work and I went and looked it up in our
tech library. I have changed my thinking and what I said about not needing the
kickdown cable is wrong, and this is why;
It tells the trans where the throttle
position is. It will cause soft slow shifts and will cause the trans to run
hot. With out the cable the trans thinks it's shifting around 1800 to 2000 rpm
all the time. It may start hunting for a gear. Soooooooo, yes you need it. This
applies to the 400 switch also.

The cable is for passing gear on a TH350. It should be hooked up otherwise it is possible to burn the tranny up. Tom |
