Dave,
I've replaced several over time and here's the easiest way I've found.
1. Disconnect battery.
2. Remove steering wheel - gets it out the way so you can work.
3. Remove all screws under the dash pad and along the sides.
4. Insert paper clip into hole in ignition switch and turn switch (with key) towards Accessory to remove the tumbler.
5. Drop (pull) dash down just enough to get your hand between the dash pad area and the top of the dash to unplug the wiring from the switch. A couple of large towels come in handy to keep from scratching up the dash and steering column when "pulling" it down for hand/wrist clearance.
6. Unscrew the bezel retaining nut. This can be a tough one but I've had success by using a large pair of Channel-lock type pliers and a couple of shop rags to keep from scratching it.
7. Remove ignition switch.
Reverse to assemble.
