Thanks. Since I removed the distributor for the manifold installation I feel
fairly confident I can move it one cylinder ok, it's just that the wires
won't quite be the right length any more. I bought some wire separators to
keep the wires apart from the looms to the distributor. Hopefully that will
cure any cross fire problem. I used 8mm wires from Summit. I looked at the
cap that switches #5 and #7, but it was an HEI cap and I still have the
points distributor as you observed, but plan on upgrading the coil and
installing a Mallory unilite points replacement.

Tom

Tom
The fix for the distributor is an easy one.. Remove the hold down and cap..
as you lift up the distributor holding onto the rotor cap. it will turn and
your will feel when it disengages the cam gear.. ..just turn it clockwise
one tooth and drop it in.. The oil pump shaft will not engage but you just
have to bump the engine over to have it drop fully..

Wayne..
Also yes the #5 and #7 is a problem with high out put HEI and Magneto
systems .
Using wire looms and GOOD 7 mm or 8 mm wire..gives adequate spacing, that
coupled with your point style type dist will minimize it even further..
